VC Young Artist Sarah Christian and Andrea Obiso have been awarded Joint-2nd prize at the 2017 ARD International Violin Competition
27 year old VC Young Artist Sarah Christian from Germany and 23 year old Andrea Obiso from Italy have just minutes ago been awarded Joint-2nd prize at the 2017 ARD International Violin Competition - in Munich, Germany.
No 1st prize was awarded at this year's competition.
27 year old Kristine Balanas from Latvia was awarded 3rd prize.
No 1st prize was also awarded at the 2013 competition - with Joint-2nd prize shared by VC Artist Bomsori Kim from South Korea and Christel Lee from the United States.

A graduate of the University Mozarteum Salzburg and the University of Music Hanns Eisler Berlin, where she studied with Antje Weithaas, Sarah is a former major prize winner at the Mendelssohn, Brahms and Michael Hill International Violin Competitions.
A graduate of the Accademia Musicale Chigiana and the Maastricht Conservatory and current graduate student of Aaron Rosand at the Curtis Institute of Music, Andrea is a former major prize winner at the Long-Thibaud-Crespin and Khachaturian International Violin Competitions.

This year's audience prize was awarded to VC Young Artist Sarah Christian.
The prize for the best performance of this year's set piece, Avner Dorman's 'Work for Solo Violin' in the Semi-Final stage, was awarded to Andrea Obiso.
