Applications Closing for 2022 Singapore International Violin Competition

Hosted by the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory, the competition is accepting applications until September 15, 2021

2021 Singapore International Violin Competition Postponed to 2022 - image attachment

 

Open to international violinists born after December 31, 1990, the competition will take place from January 16-28, 2022.

Previous major prize winners include VC Artists Yu-Chien Benny Tseng, Richard Lin, and Fedor Rudin.

Each selected candidate will be given an airfare subsidy and accommodation as long as they are still participating in the competition.

The 2022 jury will comprise Qian Zhou (Chair), Pierre Amoyal, Martin Beaver, Martin T:son Engstroem, Koichiro Harada, Barnabás Kelemen, Mihaela Martin, Petru Munteanu, Joel Smirnoff, and Tsu Vera Weiling.

The first prize winner will receive USD $50,000, a number of important performance engagements, and the loan of a fine Italian instrument.

Qian Zhou — SIVC Chair of the Artist Committee and Jury and Head of Strings at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music — spoke with The Violin Channel about this year's competition, its mission, and its protocols.
