Applications Closing Soon for The Glenn Gould School at Toronto’s Royal Conservatory of Music

Applications are now being accepted for The Royal Conservatory of Music’s The Glenn Gould School (GGS) in Toronto, Canada. One of the leading post-secondary music performance training institutions in North America, the GGS offers substantial scholarships to every student for the duration of their program.

Open to international pianists, vocalists, and orchestral instrumentalists, students can apply to the Undergraduate Bachelor of Music and Post-Bachelor Artist Diploma (deadline December 15^th), or the Post-Graduate Rebanks Family Fellowship and International Performance Residency Program (deadline February 16, 2024).

Open to international pianists, vocalists, and orchestral instrumentalists, The Glenn Gould School is attached to a major performance center, Koerner Hall, and orchestral students perform in it at least four times per year.

Its distinguished faculty includes Paul Kantor (violin), Hans Jørgen Jensen (cellist), and Associate Dean Barry Shiffman (violin/viola) with each student receiving the equivalent of 90 minutes of individual instruction per week.

The GGS master class program, which sees over 125 classes taking place each year, attracts internationally acclaimed artists such as Jinjoo Cho, Stefan Dohr, Ida Kavafian, Sir András Schiff, and Peter Oundjian. 

Recently, pianist Jeremy Denk was named the new Ihnatowycz Chair in Piano. Denk is only the second person in this role (preceded by the late Leon Fleisher, the inaugural Chair) and will conduct master classes throughout the year as well as studio coaching.

Enrollment in this purposefully small school is capped at 130 students and graduates include violinist Benjamin Bowman, pianist Jan Lisiecki and mezzo-soprano Ema Nikolovska.
