Applications Open to 2022 Morgenland Campus

In 2016, the Morgenland Festival Osnabrück, in conjunction with the Institute for Music of the University for Applied Science (Hochschule) Osnabrück, started the Morgenland Campus.

Open to 30 students from around the world, campus participation is free of charge to those chosen. The week-long workshop offers students the opportunity to work with musicians of the Festival to learn about non-Western musical styles such as Arabian and various Asian genres.

Hailing from around the world, the tutors include vocalist Dima Orsho, percussionist Rony Barrak, tubist Michel Godard, double bassist Tony Overwater, violinist Maias Alyamani, trumpet player Frederik Köster, pianist Rembrandt Frerichs, clarinetist Mohamad Najem, and kamancheh and setar player Kayhan Kalhor.

Along with these musicians, students will participate in ensemble rehearsals, lectures, and concerts throughout the week. Some of the concerts will be public, including:

• July 13, Morgenland Soloists
• July 14, Kayhan Kalhor & Friends
• July 16, Morgenland Campus Finale with teachers and students
