The Professor of Violin position at the Sibelius Academy of the University of the Arts Helsinki (Uniarts Helsinki) is a full-time and permanent tenure track position to be filled based on artistic criteria. Established in 2013, Uniarts Helsinki provides the highest level of education in music, fine arts, theater and dance.
The accepted candidate will work at Uniarts Helsinki’s Department of Strings and Chamber Music in the Faculty of Classical Music, where around 150 students are majoring in strings and chamber music.
Eligibility for the position requires a doctoral degree or corresponding artistic merits. The languages of instruction at the university are Finnish, Swedish and English. Violin is taught mainly in Finnish or English.
The total annual working time of the position is 1,612 hours, of which 386 hours will be designated to contact teaching. The gross annual salary will be approximately €64,000–75,000 depending on the experience and merits of the candidate. Occupational health care will also be provided.
