American violinist John Merrill has passed away from pancreatic cancer - aged 75

American violinist John C. Merrill has passed away from pancreatic cancer - aged 75.

A graduate of Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music, where he studied with Josef Gingold, Mr Merrill performed as a long term member of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra.

“John loved music ... every night he was thrilled to be playing and was never out of touch with the power of the music we were making together,” Baltimore Symphony colleague Jane Marvine has said.
