Candidates Announced for USA’s 2018 Hudson Valley String Competition

The 20 opening round candidates have been announced for the 2018 Hudson Valley String Competition

The 20 opening round candidates have today been announced for the 2018 46th Hudson Valley String Competition - to be held at Vassar College, in Poughkeepsie, USA - from the 17th to the 19th of March, 2018.

The 2018 candidates are:

  • Liav Kerbel (Cello)
  • Halam Kim (Viola)
  • Andres Sanchez (Cello)
  • Fangming Shen (Violin)
  • Lisa Sung (Viola)
  • Emily Switzer (Violin)
  • Max Tan (Violin)
  • Martine Thomas (Viola)
  • Choi Tung Yeung (Violin)
  • Oukalin Yin (Violin)
  • Aihao Zheng (Cello)
  • Wei Zhu (Violin)

Open to international string soloists aged 18-25 years old, the 2018 1st prize winner will receive US $3000 - and a number of solo engagement opportunities.

Previous 1st prize winners include: Nobuko Imai, Fred Sherry, Ani Kavafian, Karen Dreyfus, Judith Ingolfsson and Arnaud Sussmann.
