Cellist Camille Thomas Awarded Loan of 1730 ‘Feuermann’ Stradivarius Cello

31-year-old French-born cellist Camille Thomas has received the use of the 1730 ‘Feuermann’ Stradivarius cello

It has been announced this week that 31-year-old French-born cellist Camille Thomas has received the use of the 1730 ‘Feuermann’ Stradivarius cello – on generous loan from the Nippon Foundation Fine Instrument Loan Project, in Tokyo.

The cello was acquired by the Foundation from luminary cellist, Aldo Parisot in 1996 - with previous loan recipients including cellist Danjulo Ishizaka and Steven Isserlis.

A graduate of Berlin’s Hanns Eisler University of Music and the Franz Liszt Academy, where she studied with Frans Helmerson and Wolfgang-Emmanuel Schmidt, Camille was recently signed as an exclusive artist with Deutsche Grammophon – becoming the first cellist signed in 40 years by the yellow label.

Current recipients from the Nippon Foundation instrument bank include violinists Svetlin Roussev, Akiko Suwanai, Arabella Steinbacher, Alina Pogostkina, Ryu Goto and Sergey Khachatryan – and VC Artists Pablo Ferrandez, Ray Chen, Benjamin Beilman and Ji Young Lim.
