A protege of Leonard Rose and Orlando Cole, he is remembered as one of the eminent cellists of the 20th Century

American cellist Lynn Harrell was born on this day in 1944.

Passing away in April of 2020, aged 76, he served teaching positions on faculty at the Royal Academy of Music, Cleveland Institute of Music and The Juilliard School.
