Glenn Gould Bach Fellowship Selects New Elected Fellow

Cellist Tanja Tetzlaff is the first elected recipient of the Fellowship awarded by the City of Weimar

Offering 100,000 Euros in funding, the Glenn Gould Bach Fellowship aims to aid musicians in creating ambitious and innovative projects relating to the music of Bach or that of the Baroque period.

Last summer, the fellowship was presented to the public, with Founding Fellow Peter Tuite. Every two years, the City of Weimar will now award the honor, made possible by the Philip Loubser Foundation and managed by the Thuringia Bach Festival.

An active soloist and chamber musician, Tetzlaff has performed alongside Daniel Harding, Philippe Herreweghe, and Sir Roger Norrington. Over the next two years, she will use the fellowship to create a film project that bridges Bach's cello suites to nature and climate change.

"I am very honored to have been selected as the Glenn Gould Bach Fellow 2021," Tanja said in a statement. "The fellowship will allow me to realize a real dream project that combines two aspects that have kept me very busy over the past years."
