Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra Names New String Players

The orchestra welcomes eleven new players, as well as two assistant conductors and a new principal librarian

Of the new players appointed to the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra (CSO), nine of them are string players. According to the ensemble's President and CEO, Jonathan Martin, the flurry of appointments represents a return to the way the orchestra was operating prior to the pandemic.

The newly appointed players are as follows: Stephen Jones (assistant principal bass), Luis Arturo Celis Avila (bass), Gerald Torres (bass), Gabriel Napoli (viola), Daniel Kaler (cello), Emilio Carlo (viola), Felicity James (associate concertmaster), Dan Wang (viola), and Isabel Kwon (cello).

In addition, the CSO will take on two new assistant conductors, Samuel Lee and Daniel Wiley. As well as conducting engagements with the CSO they will also take Pops gigs and appear at the Cincinnati May Festival.
