The North Carolina-based Ciompi Quartet has announced the appointment of cellist Caroline Stinson to the ensemble

The North Carolina-based Ciompi String Quartet has today announced the appointment of Canadian-born cellist Caroline Stinson to the ensemble.

Caroline is a former member of the Lark Quartet - and currently serves a pre-collage teaching position on faculty at The Juilliard School.

She will replace cellist, Frederic Raimi - who retired at the end of last season.

The Duke University-based ensemble was founded in 1964 by Italian violinist Giorgio Ciompi, and serves as the music school's Quartet-in-Resident.

Caroline is the quartet's first new member since 1995.
