Czech composer Leoš Janáček died on this day in 1928 – aged 74.

Janáček, Dvořák and Smetana are widely regarded as the three most influential Czech composers of all time.

His signature works include the opera 'Jenufa', symphonic poem 'Sinfonietta', oratorio ''Glagolitic Mass', rhapsody 'Taras Bulba', two string quartets and a number of chamber works.
