Four winners have just minutes ago been announced at the 2019 Concert Artists Guild Victor Elmaleh Competition - in New York City.
This year's winners are: American violist Jordan Bak, Turkish cellist Jamal Aliyev, German recorder player Tabea Debus - and the New England Conservatory-based Merz Piano Trio.
Each of this year's winners will receive 3 years artist management and career development on the roster of the Concert Artists Guild – including performance opportunities with more than 40 leading orchestras, concert series and festivals and a New York showcase performance live-streamed internationally on The Violin Channel.
This year's audience prize was awarded to Jordan Bak.
All four winners will also make their New York debuts during the 2019-2020 CAG concert season.
This year’s jury comprised: 92nd Street Y Director Hanna Arie-Gaifman, Carnegie Hall Artistic Director Liz Mahler, 21C Media Group Managing Director Jessica Lustig, Premiere Performances of Hong Kong Founder Andrea Fessler, Recording Producer David Frost, Conductors Rossen Milanov and Tito Munoz, The Wholehearted Musician Founder Dana Fonteneau, Concert Artists Guild Senior Vice President Chris Williams and Concert Artists Guild President Tanya Bannister.
Previous CAG 1st prize winners include the Pacifica Quartet, violinists Jennifer Koh and Joseph Lin – and VC Artists InMo Yang, Alexi Kenney, Yoojing Jang and the Verona and Aizuri String Quartets.
