The category prize winners have been announced at the 2018 Cremona Triennale Luthiere Competition - in Cremona, Italy

The category prize winners have been announced at the 2018 15th Cremona Triennale Luthiere Competition - at the Museo del Violino Instrument Museum, in Cremona, Italy.

The 2018 medalists were chosen from 248 luthier submissions.

The Cremona Triennale Luthiere Competition medallists are:

Violin Category

  • Gold Medal – Nicolas Bonet from France
  • Silver Medal – Yukiko Chin from Japan
  • Bronze Medal – Jihwan Park from South Korea

Viola Category

  • Silver Medal – Ulrich Hinsberger from Germany
  • Bronze Medal – Viateur Roy from Canada

Cello Category

  • Gold Medal – Gawang Jung from South Korea
  • Silver Medal – Jihwan Park from South Korea
  • Bronze Medal – Alessandro Peiretti from Italy

Double Bass Category

  • Bronze Medal – Guido Mariotto from Italy

 

The jury comprised: luthiers Alberto Giordano, Marco Nolli, Jan Strick, Guy Rabut and Zheng Quan, violinists Glauco Bertagnin and Jana Kuss, violist Michel Michalakakos, cellist David Pia and double bassist Enrico Fagone.
