Curtis Institute Appoints Midori to Dorothy Richard Starling Violin Chair
The Curtis Institute of Music has announced the appointed of violin virtuoso Midori to the 'Dorothy Richard Starling Chair in Violin Studies'
The Curtis Institute of Music, in Philadelphia, has this week announced the appointed of Japanese-born American violin virtuoso Midori to the Dorothy Richard Starling Chair in Violin Studies - effective immediately.
Midori, who joined the school's teaching faculty in 2018, will succeed Aaron Rosand in the role - who passed away in July of this year.
Vocal pedagogue Danielle Orlando has also been appointed to the Hirsig Family Chair in Vocal Studies.
"We are pleased to recognise these outstanding artists and dedicated teachers in this way ... the prestigious named chairs at Curtis honour the school’s significant legacy while demonstrating our continued commitment as leaders and innovators in training excellence in violin and vocal studies," Curtis Institute President and CEO, Roberto Díaz has this week said.
