100th Anniversary Concert Announced for Legendary Violin Teacher Dorothy DeLay

A special celebratory concert is set to be hosted in New York City on April 2nd to honour the life and legacy of the-late violin pedagogue Ms Dorothy DeLay

A special celebratory concert is set to be hosted in New York City on April 2nd to honour the life and legacy of the-late violin pedagogue Ms Dorothy DeLay.

Remembered as one of the most influential violin teachers of all time, her famed students at The Juilliard School included Itzhak Perlman, Sarah Chang, Midori, Anne Akiko Meyers, Nigel Kennedy, Shlomo Mintz, Philippe Quint, Chin Kim, Cho-Liang Lin, Akiko Suwanai and Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg.

Ms DeLay, who passed away in 2002, would have turned 100 on March 31st of this year.

“There are only a handful of people that have the capacity to change someone’s life … I am thrilled and grateful to my dear friends who immediately agreed to join me in celebrating life of our beloved teacher … ” event organiser, violinist Philippe Quint has told The Violin Channel.

‘The Dorothy Delay Centennial Celebration’ will take place at (Le) Poisson Rouge in New York City - and will include live performances by Chee-Yun, Philippe Quint, Kurt Nikkanen, Randall Mitsuo Goosby and VC Artist Paul Huang.

The evening will also include personal video tributes from Itzhak Perlman, Midori, Cho-Liang Lin and David Kim.
