1 MIN READ
It has been announced that 65 year old Dutch violin virtuoso Emmy Verhey is set to retire from the concert stage at the conclusion of 2014/2015 season.
A recognised child prodigy, Ms Verhey still today holds the record for the youngest ever prize winner at the Tchaikovsky International Violin Competition.
A student of Herman Krebbers, Bela Dekany, Wolfgang Schneiderhan and David Oistrakh, she has performed extensively throughout her 54 year international career - and has served a long-term distinguished teaching position at the Utrecht Conservatory.
For much of her performance career, Ms Verhey concertized on the 1723 'Earl Spencer' Stradivarius – now on loan to Scottish violinist Nicola Benedetti.
