Semi-Finalists Announced at Indianapolis Competition – Including 6 VC 'Young Artists'

The 16 Semi-Finalists, have just minutes ago, been announced at the 2014 9th International Violin Competition of Indianapolis – including 6 VC 'Young Artists'.

This year's Semi-Finalists are:

VC 'Young Artist' Yu-Chien Benny Tseng (20, Taiwan), VC 'Young Artist' Tessa Lark (25, United States), VC 'Young Artist' Stephen Waarts (18, United States/Netherlands), VC 'Young Artist' Yoo Jin Jang (23, South Korea), VC 'Young Artist' Suyeon Kang (25, Australia), VC 'Young Artist' Dami Kim (25, South Korea), Nancy Zhou (21, United States), Ayana Tsuji (16, Japan), Jinjoo Cho (26, South Korea), Stephen Kim (18, United States), Ji Yoon Lee (22, South Korea), Ji Young Lim (19, South Korea), Kristi Gjezi (24, France), Bomsori Kim (24, South Korea), Ji-Won Song (21, South Korea) and Christine Lim (19, United States/South Korea).

For the Semi-Final round, each candidate will present a Beethoven Violin & Piano Sonata, a Romantic/20th Century Violin & Piano Sonata, this year's set work 'Fantasy for Solo Violin' by American composer Ellen Taaffe Zwilich – and a virtuosic violin showpiece.

6 finalists will progress to the Final round – to be held from September 17th to the 20th.

The 1st prize winner will receive USD $30,000, a number of international concert engagements, including a Carnegie Hall Stern Auditorium recital debut, 4 years of career and concert management – and the 4 year loan of the 1683 ‘ex-Gingold’ Stradivarius.
