Renowned Israeli composer and conductor Noam Sheriff has passed away - aged 83
Renowned Israeli composer and conductor Noam Sheriff has passed away - aged 83.
Throughout his 6 decade international career, Maestro Sheriff served as Artistic Director of the Kibbutz Chamber Orchestra, Israel Chamber Orchestra, Israel Symphony Orchestra Rishon LeZion and the Israel Chamber Orchestra - and held Professorships on faculty at Tel-Aviv University's Samuel Rubin Academy of Music, the Hebrew University, the Cologne Musikhochschule and the Salzburg Mozarteum.
He was awarded the Israel Association of Composers 'Acum Prize' in 1991 - and the 'Emet Prize for Music' and 'Israel Prize' in 2003 and 2011 for his life's work.
