Junior Prizes Awarded at Belgium’s Leonid Kogan Violin Competition
The junior category prize winners have been announced at the 2020 Leonid Kogan International Competition for Young Violinists
The 1st and 2nd junior category prize winners have this week been announced at the 2020 Leonid Kogan International Competition for Young Violinists – in Brussels, Belgium.
The two junior age categories were this week judged from online submissions - with the two senior age categories to be held in person in October.
Joint 1st Prize in the 9 years and younger category was awarded to 9-year-old Chitoyo Shinozaki from Japan and 8-year-old Miu Hirokawa from Japan.
2nd Prize was awarded to 9-year old Valentina-Maria Schwinge from Germany.
Joint 3rd Prize was awarded to 8-year-old Tae-Kyum Jefferson Kang from South Korea and 7-year-old Aleksandr Kolesnikov from Russia.
The 1st prize in the 10 to 13 year old category was awarded to 13-year-old Léo Couralet from France/South Korea.
Joint 2nd Prize was awarded to 11-year-old Anton Carus from the United States and 12-year-old Marika Konishi from Japan.
3rd prize was awarded to 13-year-old Ann Sakimoto from Japan.
4th and 5th prizes were awarded to 12-year-old Sungwoo Lee from South Korea and 11-year-old Yu-ichi Watanabe from Japan.
Joint 6th prize was awarded to 12-year-old Ilva Eigus from Switzerland, 10-year-old Shang-En Hsieh from Taiwan and 12-year old Zhao Jinlan from China.
All 2020 prize winners will be invited to perform at the Gala Concert in Brussels on the 30th of October.
Previous prize winners include VC Rising Star Maria Dueñas.
The 2019 jury comprised: Karen Aroutiounian (President), Sergey Khachatryan, Valery Oistrakh, Igor Unterberg, Aram Gevorkian, Eric Melon and Armen Harutyunyan.
