Prizes Awarded at Australia's Kendall National Violin Competition

12-year-old Australian violinist Dindin Wang has been awarded 1st prize at the 2018 Kendall National Violin Competition

12-year-old Australian violinist Dindin Wang has been awarded 1st prize at the 2018 Kendall National Violin Competition – in Sydney, Australia.

Regarded as one of Australia’s most important domestic development prizes for violinists 23 years and younger, Dindin will receive AUD $4,000, a violin crafted by Polish-Australian luthier, Michal Prokop – plus a number of domestic concert engagements.

This year's 'Audience' prize was awarded to finalist, violinist Johnny van Gend.

'The Best Performance of an Australian Composition' prize was awarded to finalist, violinist Gemma Lee.

The final-round jury comprised: Ole Bohn, Patricia Pollett and Charles Stegemann.

Dindin is the competition's youngest 1st prize winner, since the competition's inception in 1999.

Previous winners include: VC Artist Ray Chen - and former Lipizer and Menuhin International Violin Competition major prize winners, James Dong and Grace Clifford.
