London’s Royal Academy Has Unveiled Their New Opera and Recital Halls

London’s Royal Academy of Music has unveiled their newly-transformed facilities - including a new 309-seat opera hall and 100-seat recital hall

London’s Royal Academy of Music has today unveiled their newly transformed facilities - including a new 309-seat opera hall, 100-seat recital hall, refurbished practice, dressing room and percussion studios - and new jazz and audio-visual recording departments.

Designed by Ian Ritchie Architects, and funded almost entirely by a £30 million philanthropic campaign, the redevelopment has transformed the original Jack Lyons Theatre - which stood from 1976 until 2015.

"The project would not have been possible without the tremendous philanthropic support we have received from many close friends …" Academy Principal Jonathan Freeman-Attwood has said.

"It is testament to how much our generous patrons and donors believe in this institution and want to play their part in inspiring and nurturing the greatest musicians and cultural ambassadors of the future," he has said.
