BREAKING | 4 Senior Finalists Announced at 2018 Menuhin Competition
The 4 candidates progressing through to the Final stage of the 2018 Menuhin Competition Senior Division, in Geneva, Switzerland, have been announced
The 4 candidates progressing through to the Final stage of the 2018 Menuhin Competition Senior Division, in Geneva, Switzerland, have just minutes ago been announced.
The 2018 Senior Division Finalists are:
- Tianyou Ma (17, China)
- Diana Adamyan (18, Armenia)
- Nathan Mierdl (20, France/Germany)
- HyunJae Lim (20, South Korea)
For the final round, to be held on the 21st of April at Geneva's Victoria Hall, each finalist will present either the Bruch, Mendelssohn, Mozart 5th, Prokofiev 2nd or Saint-Saens 3rd Violin Concerti - with conductor Julian Rachlin and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
Widely recognised as the world’s leading competition for violinists under the age of 22, previous Senior Division 1st prize winners include VC Artists Ray Chen, Angelo Xiang Yu, Stephen Waarts and Ziyu He.
The 1st prize winner of the Senior Division will receive CHF 15,000 and the 1-year loan of a fine Italian instrument – from Christophe Landon Rare Violins.
An additional special prize, the 2-year loan of a very fine period Stradivarius violin from the private collection of Jonathan Moulds CBE, will also be awarded by the Beare’s International Violin Society to the candidate deemed to have displayed the most outstanding potential throughout the competition.

The 2018 jury will comprise: Jury chair Pamela Frank, Vice chair Joji Hattori, Itamar Golan, Ilya Gringolts, Henning Kraggerud, Lu Siqing, Maxim Vengerov, Soyoung Yoon and VC Artist Josef Spacek.
