Milwaukee Symphony Concertmaster Frank Almond To Step Down After 25 Years

The Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra has announced the upcoming retirement of long-serving Concertmaster, Frank Almond

The Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra has today announced the upcoming retirement of long-serving Concertmaster, Frank Almond - effective from the conclusion of the 2019-2020 season.

A graduate of The Juilliard School, where he studied with Dororthy Delay, Michael Tseitlin, Felix Galimir and Joseph Silverstein, Frank has served as the ensemble's leader since 1994.

He will remain with the orchestra as an Artistic Adviser.

"Frank Almond’s dedication, passion and mastery of his craft has endeared him to his colleagues, our patrons, students, partners and so many others …” Milwaukee Symphony Music Director, Ken-David Masur has today said.

"Over the years, Frank has given so much of himself to the MSO, to Milwaukee and to his craft - and has earned every accolade bestowed upon him," he has said.

"While my passion for performing has never waned, now is the right time for me and my family to begin a new chapter ... " Frank, 55, has today said.

"I will work directly with Maestro Ken-David Masur and others in whatever capacity I can to contribute to the orchestra's tremendous upward trajectory," he has said.
