Today is VC Artist Noah Bendix-Balgley’s 40th Birthday!
He currently serves as First Concertmaster of the Berlin Philharmonic
American VC Artist Noah Bendix-Balgley was born on this day in 1984.
A graduate of Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music and the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Munich, Bendix-Balgley is a former prize winner at the Vibrarte, Queen Elisabeth, Long-Thibaud, and Postacchini International Violin Competitions.
He currently serves as First Concertmaster of the Berlin Philharmonic and was formerly concertmaster of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra.
An avid chamber musician, he performs in a trio with pianist Robert Levin and cellist Peter Wiley, the multi-genre Philharmonix ensemble, and the Rosamunde String Quartet. In addition to chamber music projects with his colleagues, Noah teaches at the Karajan Academy of the Berliner Phil, mentoring the next generation of orchestral musicians.
Recent solo engagements include performances with the Berlin Philharmonic, the Philharmonic Orchestra of Dresden, the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, the Orchestre National de Belgique, the Utah Symphony, the Hong Kong Sinfonietta, the Auckland Philharmonia, the Nagoya Philharmonic, and Apollo’s Fire Orchestra.
Noah also enjoys performing klezmer music and teaches klezmer violin around the world.
Noah plays on a 1732 Carlo Bergonzi violin.
