OUT NOW | Cellist Daniel Müller-Schott New "Four Visions of France" Album

Released on ORFEO records, the disc features Müller-Schott alongside conductor Alexandre Bloch and Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin

Now available on Apple Music for international streaming, the album features music by Saint-Saëns, Honegger, Fauré, and Lalo — including a cello and orchestra transcription of Saint-Saëns’ Romance in F major, Op. 36.

"I do believe that in French music you have to choose the color palette differently," Müller-Schott wrote on his website. "In French music, as in painting, you need the colors that are in between. Transitions, shades that are not immediately recognizable, that may come into focus from a distance.

"Having a subtle, also very sensitive partner is really the be-all and end-all," he said. "With Alexandre, I am now looking forward to getting to know someone who is also pursuing precisely this goal of subtlety that is really needed in French music."

Müller-Schott’s mentors have included Walter Nothas, Heinrich Schiff, Steven Isserlis, and Mstislav Rostropovich. He received personal sponsorship by Anne-Sophie Mutter, and at age 15, he won first prize at the 1992 Moscow International Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians.

He plays a 1727 “Ex Shapiro” Matteo Goffriller cello, made in Venice.
