Legendary Soviet pedagogue Pyotr Stolyarsky was born on this day in 1871.

Mr Stolyarsky is remembered in history as the founder of 'The Odessa School' and 'The Soviet Violin School'.

His famed students included David Oistrakh, Boris Goldstein, Nathan Milstein, Igor Oistrakh, Mikhail Fikhtengoltz and Eduard Grach.
