Violinist Pekka Kuusisto Named Newest St Paul Chamber Orch Artistic Partner

The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra has today announced 38 year old Finnish violinist and conductor Pekka Kuusisto as their newest Artistic Partner – effective September 2016.

Known for his violin virtuosity and imaginative collaborations with a wide variety of artists - including folk, electronic and jazz bands, dancers and fashion designers, Pekka will join current associates, pianist Jeremy Denk, clarinetist Martin Frost and violinists Patricia Kopatchinskaja and Thomas Zehetmair.

Instead of having a Music Director, the Minnesota-based ensemble engages visiting artistic partners to perform with the orchestra for several weeks each year.

A former 1st prize winner at the Sibelius International Violin Competition, Pekka will later this season premiere a choreographed version of the Sibelius' Violin Concerto with pianist, flamenco dancer and ballet dancer.
