Prizes Awarded at Italy’s Valsesia International Violin Competition

Giuseppe Gibboni from Italy and Selma Spahiu from Sweden/Albania have been awarded joint 1st prize at the Valsesia International Violin Competition, in Varallo, Italy


A student at the Giuseppe Martucci Salerno Conservatory, and former student of Salvatore Accardo and Pavel Berman, Giuseppe is a former top prize winner at the Postacchini and Enescu International Violin Competitions.

A student at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts, Selma is a former prize winner at the Jugend Musiziert Competition.

Both 1st prize winners will be awarded €8000.

3rd prize at this year's competition was awarded 21-year-old Rok Černoš Zaletel from Slovenia.

The 2020 jury comprised: Hubbert Stuppner, Christian Anzinger, Vincenzo Balsani and Lindita Hoxha.

Previous 1st prize winners include: Roman Simovic, Antal Szalai – and VC Artists Rennosuke Fukuda, Fedor Rudin and Nikita Boriso-Glebsky.
