It has been announced today that Australian violinist, VC Artist Ray Chen will replace Janine Jansen for an upcoming performance with the London Symphony Orchestra - due to an ongoing health concern.
Bad news: Janine Jansen is unable to perform Sibelius Violin Concerto at the Barbican Centre on Thursday due to health reasons. Good news: @raychenviolin has agreed to step in 👏👏 Great news: we’ve just released a few more tickets! https://t.co/3lUY4FG7m9

“What an incredible honour to be called to the stage for this occasion with the London Symphony … it will be my debut performance with the ensemble, and I couldn’t be more excited …” Ray has told The Violin Channel.
“But that being said, of course I’m wishing my violinist-crush Janine Jansen a speedy recovery ... and healthy and safe return to her concert schedule,” he has said.
The 40-year-old Dutch superstar violinist has been forced to cancel a number of engagements in recent weeks - including three performances of the Brahms Double Concerto, with VC Artist Pablo Ferrandez and the Vienna Symphony - and a performance of the Sibelius Concerto with the Berlin Philharmonic.
We wish Janine a speedy recovery.
