British cellist VC Young Artist Sheku Kanneh-Mason has been selected to perform at the upcoming Royal Wedding service of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle
It has been announced today that British cellist VC Young Artist Sheku Kanneh-Mason has been selected as one of a number of classical musicians to perform at the upcoming Royal Wedding service of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle - on the 19th of May at London's Windsor Castle.
“I’m so excited and honoured to perform at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding ... I was bowled over when Ms Markle called me to ask if I would play during the ceremony - and of course I immediately said 'yes!'" the 19-year-old former BBC Young Musician of the Year winner has said.
"What a privilege to be able to play the cello at such a wonderful event ... I can’t wait!” he has said.
It's understood Prince Harry recently attended a performance by Sheku at an Antiguan charity event in London.
It has also been confirmed conductor Christopher Warren-Green will lead an ensemble during the Royal church ceremony - comprising musicians from the Philharmonia and English Chamber orchestras.
