Prizes Awarded at Germany’s Spohr International Junior Violin Competition
The category age prize winners have today been announced at the 2016 8th Louis Spohr International Violin Competition, in Weimar, Germany
The category age prize winners have today been announced at the 2016 8th Louis Spohr International Violin Competition, in Weimar, Germany.
Category 1 (14 Years and younger): 1st Prize: Shihan Wang from China, 2nd Prize: Hana Chang from the United States, 3rd Prize: Marley Erickson from the United States.
Category 2 (15 to 17 years Old): 1st Prize: Anne Luisa Kramb from Germany, 2nd Prize: Elias David Moncado from Germany, 3rd Prize: Sophia Su from the United States.
Category 3 (18 to 20 years Old): 1st Prize: Angela Sin Ying Chan from Hong Kong, 2nd Prize: Sumina Studer from Switzerland, 3rd Prize: Mairéad Hickey from the United States.

Shihan Wang will receive €1750, Anne Luisa Kramb €2500, and Sin Ying Chan €3500.
Each of the category winners will also receive a €500 voucher for sheet music and 'Henle Library' app downloads from G. Henle Verlag.
In addition, Sin Ying Chan was awarded €500 for the ‘best interpretation of a violin concerto’.
Anne Luisa Kramb and Sumina Studer were both awarded €500 for the ‘best interpretations of a Beethoven violin sonata’.
Mairéad Hickey was awarded €500 for the ‘best interpretation of a virtuoso work’.
Ayano Shigematsu was awarded €500 for the ‘best interpretation of a work composed after 1950’.
Anne Luisa Kramb was awarded the 2016 EMCY Prize.
This year’s jury comprised: Friedemann Eichhorn (Chair), Stephan Barratt-Due, Min Kim, Andreas Lehmann, Petru Munteanu, Paul Roczek, Jacqueline Ross, Kurt Sassmannshaus, Pavel Vernikov and Krzysztof Wegrzyn.
