Prizes Awarded at the American Stulberg International String Competition

18 year old cellist, Daniel Hass from Israel has today been awarded 1st prize at the 2016 41st Stulberg International String Competition, in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

2nd and 3rd prizes were awarded to 19 year old violinists VC ‘Young Artist’ Zeyu Victor Li, from China and 19 year old Austin Berman, from the United States.

A student of Joel Krosnick at the Juilliard School, Daniel will receive US$6,000 - plus solo invitations from the Kalamazoo Symphony, Grand Rapids Symphony and the Baltimore Chamber Orchestra.

This year’s ‘Bach Award’ was presented to 18 year old violinist, Zachary Brandon.

This year’s judges comprised former New York Philharmonic Concertmaster Glenn Dicterow, Orion String Quartet cellist Steven Tenenbom and Curtis Institute faculty member, cellist Peter Wiley.

Previous major prize winners include: Joshua Bell, VC ‘Artist’ Benjamin Beilman, Soovin Kim, Jennifer Koh, Rachel Barton Pine, Sheryl Staples, Ariel Horowitz, Ji-Won Song, Jinjoo Cho and Zachary Depue, violist Matthew Lipman and cellist VC ‘Rising Star’ Zlatomir Fung,
