The 6 Finalists have been announced at the 2018 43rd Stulberg International String Competition
The 6 Finalists have just minutes ago been announced at the 2018 43rd Stulberg International String Competition – at the Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
The 2018 Finalists are:
- Maya Anjali Buchanan (17, Violin)
- Nathan Le (18, Cello)
- La Li (15, Cello)
- Charlotte Marckx (15, Violin)
- Hannah Song (17, Violin)
- William Suh (18, Cello)
This year’s prize, presented for the ‘best performance of a work by J.S. Bach’ in the Semi-Final round was awarded to 15 year old violinist Charlotte Marckx.
For the Final round, to be held this evening, each candidate will present a different movement from the same concerto presented during the Semi-Final stage.
Open to violinists, violists, cellists and bassists of any nationality aged 19 or under and who are not current students of the 2018 judges, the 1st prize winner will receive USD $6,000 – and a number of domestic concerto performance opportunities.
Former prize winners include Joshua Bell, Soovin Kim, Rachel Barton Pine and Jennifer Koh – and VC Artists Zeyu Victor Li, Zlatomir Fung, Matthew Lipman and Benjamin Beilman.
The 2018 jury comprises: Aaron Dworkin, Anthony Ross and Scott St John.
