Semi-Finalists Announced at Russia’s Tchaikovsky International Violin Competition
The 12 Semi-Finalists have been announced at the 2019 Tchaikovsky International Violin Competition
The 12 Semi-Finalists have today been announced at the 2019 Tchaikovsky International Violin Competition – in St. Petersburg, Russia.
The 2019 Violin Semi-Finalists are:
- VC Young Artist Marc Bouchkov (Belgium)
- VC Young Artist Lara Boschkor (Germany)
- Aylen Pritchin (Russia)
- Chisa Kitagawa (Japan)
- Ravil Islyamov (Russia)
- Mayumi Kanagawa (United States)
- Anna Savkina (Russia)
- Leonid Zheleznyi (Russia)
- Albrecht Menzel (Germany)
- Milan Al-Ashhab (Czech Republic)
- Donghyun Kim (South Korea)
- Sergey Dogadin (Russia)
This year’s competition will be held across 6 categories – Piano, Violin, Cello, Voice, Woodwinds and Brass Instruments.
Each category winners will receive US $30,000 – with the one Tchaikovsky Competition Grand Prix winner to be awarded an additional US $100,000.
The 2019 violin jury comprises: Martin Engstrom (Chair), Kristóf Baráti, Mikhail Kopelman, Boris Kuschnir, Alexei Shalashov, Akiko Suwanai, Salvatore Accardo, Michael Haefliger, Sergei Krylov, Elmar Oliveira, Dmitry Sitkovetsky and Viktor Tretiakov.
Previous 1st prize winners include: Viktor Tretiakov, Gidon Kremer, Elmar Oliveira, Viktoria Mullova, Ilya Kaler and Mayuko Kamio.
