The Vienna State Opera Authorized to Reopen
The reopening date has been set to May 19 with hopes to offer performances in front of a live audience
After being closed for a year and a half, the Vienna State Opera is currently preparing to reopen upon authorization by the Austrian Federal Government.
More information on the reopening, including news about possible dates, performances, and ticket sales, will be announced later.
During the pandemic, the organization reached an audience of 5 million through streaming performances on television, radio, and online.
Founded in 1869, the Vienna State Opera is considered to be one of the most important opera houses in the world.
"We are currently working on the necessary preparations and ask for your understanding that we will not inform you today, but of course as soon as possible about dates, performances, and ticket sales," Director Bogdan Roščić said. "So I hope to see you again soon and look forward to a shared opera experience."
