33-year-old Oistrakh performs the virtuosic piece with his wife Natalya Zertsalova
Igor Oistrakh recently passed away on August 14, 2021. He was 90 years old.
The son of virtuoso David Oistrakh, he was the winner of the Budapest International Violin Competition(1949) and the Henryk Wieniawski Violin Competition (1952).
A dedicated violin pedagogue, Igor served on faculty at the Moscow Conservatory and the Royal Conservatory of Brussels — and as a Fellow of the Royal College of Music, London.
"Igor Davidovich was always a tremendous virtuoso, even by the standards of our very talented class, and he most certainly had a distinct musical persona very much his own — even so different to his great father," the 88-year Russian violinist Victor Pikayzen told The Violin Channel.
Our condolences to Mr. Oistrakh's family, friends, students, and colleagues.
