24 year old VC Young Artist Timothy Chooi from Canada has been awarded 1st prize at the 2018 Schadt String Competition - in Allentown, United States.
2nd and 3rd prizes were awarded to violinists Ania Filochowska and Hannah Cho.
Timothy will receive US $8000 - and a solo concerto engagement with the Allentown Symphony Orchestra.

A graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music, and currently post-graduate student of Catherine Cho at The Juilliard School, Timothy is a former major prize winner at the Menuhin and Michael Hill International Violin Competitions – and recently made his Carnegie Hall solo debut as the recipient of the American Fine Arts Festival Vadim Repin Masterclass Scholarship.
Open to violinists, cellists and classical guitarists aged 18-30, who are living within the United States, previous Schadt Competition 1st prize winners include VC Young Artists Zeyu Victor Li and Ji-Won Song.
