Trio Bohémo won out of three other ensembles, including the Heathcliff Trio, Duo Jalef, and The Soleri Trio — the latter received the Parkhouse Highly Commended award.

Members of Trio Bohémo include pianist Jan Vojtek, violinist Matouš Pěruška, and cellist Kristina Vocetková. All hailing from Czech Republic, the piano trio formed shortly after meeting in Budapest, Hungary.

Auditions for the Parkhouse Award were held by video for the first time since its establishment in 1991. The jury for the finals concert comprised Emma Bloxham, Tim Hugh, Madeleine Mitchell, Ronan O’Hora, and the Parkhouse Award Chairman Chris de Souza.

The award was created in memory of David Parkhouse, a former professor of piano at the Royal College of Music and co-founder of the Music Group of London with Eileen Croxford and Hugh Bean.

The winning ensemble will perform three concerts at major venues in both London and Manchester and will receive the support of the Parkhouse Award for the next two years.

Trio Bohémo was founded in 2019 and previous awards include second prize at Lugano, Switzerland’s Gianni Bergamo Award, special prizes at Austria’s ISA Festival, Italy’s International Filippo Nicosia Award, and first prize and audience prize at the International Johannes Brahms Competition. They have also been selected for the 2021 Britten-Pears Young Artist Programme.

“We still cannot believe it!" Trio Bohémo wrote on their social media. "Performing in the legendary Wigmore Hall was an immense treat itself, but on top of that, winning this award makes us incredibly humbled and grateful for the opportunity.”
