VC Artist Fedor Rudin’s New Album, “Heimat in der Ferne”
Released on Fuga Libera, the album features Rudin performing with pianist Boris Kusnezow in works by Beethoven, Schuberternst, Voříšek, and Mozart
VC Artist Fedor Rudin has released his latest recording with the Russian pianist Boris Kusnezow featuring cornerstones of the duo repertoire for violin and piano with little-known gems.
The album is titled “Heimat in der Ferne” meaning, a home from afar; “Heimat” also refers to the place of one’s birth, a place of initial socialization, or a feeling of security and belonging.
Works on the album include Beethoven’s Violin Sonata No. 2 in A major; Schubert’s Rondo Brillant for Piano and Violin in B Minor, D. 895; Ernst’s Grand Caprice on Schubert’s Erlkönig for Solo Violin, Op. 26; Jan Václav Hugo Voříšek’s Violin Sonata in G Major, Op. 5; and Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte, K. 620, Act II: “Ach, ich fühl’s, es ist verschwunden.”
Dating back to the early 19th century, the pieces also have origins in Vienna, which has long been a center for the arts and music — bridging both tradition and modernity.
All five composers on this recording were shaped by the rich traditions of the Austrian capital and contributed to the style now known as Viennese Classicism.
