VC Artist Paul Huang Performs for Millions of Football Fans
The Taiwanese-American violinist performed his own arrangement of the United States national anthem at a National Football League game
VC Artist Paul Huang this week performed at the Panthers vs. Vikings NFL football game at the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina.
The game was before a live crowd of over 75,000 people and was broadcast on FOX Sports and ESPN — reaching a TV and digital platform audience of over 15 million people internationally.
“Music really is the one thing that can unite people with different interests involved in different activities — it is the great unifier,” Paul told The Violin Channel. Calling it a once-in-a-lifetime experience, he was incredibly proud to have performed at the event.
“As an immigrant myself, coming from Taiwan to the United States to pursue my dream, to be able to stand on the field today and play the American National Anthem with my voice, the violin, it was a truly emotional, uplifting and patriotic experience,” he continued.
“My real hope is that some listeners, particularly children, all around the world, who might not have had any or little exposure to classical music before, might now feel some curiosity to explore a little more about what we do and the violin — I can hope,” he said.
The 2021-22 season will see Paul perform with the Nürnberger Symphoniker, Rotterdam Philharmonic, National Symphony Orchestra of Taiwan, and Colorado, Eugene, Charlotte, Tucson, Knoxville, Des Moines, Brevard, and Reading Symphonies.
A recipient of the 2015 Avery Fisher Career Grant and 2017 Lincoln Center Award for Emerging Artists, he plays on the 1742 “ex-Wieniawski” Guarneri del Gesù violin — on extended loan through the Stradivari Society of Chicago
