VC Artists Receive OPUS KLASSIK Awards
Violinist Augustin Hadelich and cellist Pablo Ferrández were awarded Instrumentalist of the Year and Young Artist of the Year, respectively
Germany’s OPUS KLASSIK award for classical music recognizes outstanding recordings from a diverse pool of artists and is presented on behalf of the Association for the Promotion of Classical Music.
VC Artist Augustin Hadelich was awarded Instrumentalist of the Year for his album “Bohemian Tales” released on Warner Classics. The disc was recorded with conductor Jakub Hruša, the Symphonie-Orchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks, and pianist Charles Owen. It features pieces by Dvořák, Janácek, and Suk.
For his debut album “Reflections,” released on Sony Classical, VC Artist Pablo Ferrández was awarded Young Artist of the Year. He performs works by Rachmaninoff and Manuel de Falla with pianist Denis Kozhukhin.
“Thank you so much to everyone who has been listening and loving the album,” Ferrández wrote on his Facebook page. “I’m really looking forward to performing at the Opus Klassik Gala on October 10th at Berlin’s Konzerthaus!”
Other recipients of the awards include cello da spalla player Sergey Malov, violist Tabea Zimmermann, conductor Marc Albrecht, composer Olga Neuwirth, and the Quatuor Ébène string quartet.
