VC LIVE | 2021 Meadowmount School of Music — Direct from Upstate New York [WATCH NOW]

Tune in Wednesday 4, 11, 18 and 25 August at 6:00 PM (ET) here on The Violin Channel to hear the talented students of the Meadowmount School

 

The Meadowmount School of Music was established in 1944 by pedagogue Ivan Galamian and offers a 7-week summer program in the Adirondack Mountains of upstate New York for aspiring professional string players.

Former students include Itzhak Perlman, Pinchas Zukerman, Jaime Laredo, Michael Rabin, Yo-Yo Ma, Lynn Harrell, Joshua Bell, and James Ehnes.

Due to the pandemic, this year's program is being entirely conducted virtually. "The core mission remains singularly focused on improving string players' skills through intensive practice and total immersion in the study of string playing," Newly-appointed Executive Director of the Meadowmount School of Music Mark Hayman this week told The Violin Channel.

"Having students record their performances gives us the opportunity to share these concert performances beyond the Meadowmount community," he added. "Watching concerts online has become the new normal and we’re taking advantage of this!"
