We're coming to you LIVE from the Yale School of Music, in New Haven, Connecticut, for an exciting performance by Yale's Visiting Professor in the Practice of Violin Soovin Kim.
In addition to a studio class of applied violin students, Kim coaches chamber music ensembles and presents a master class each semester.
The winner of the 1996 Paganini International Violin Competition, Kim also received the prestigious Borletti-Buitoni Trust Award, an Avery Fisher Career Grant, and a Henryk Szeryng Foundation Career Award.
In 2021, he received the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center’s Award for Extraordinary Service to Chamber Music. He served as the first violinist in the Johannes String Quartet, and today, Kim is a member of the Chien-Kim-Watkins Trio with his wife, pianist Gloria Chien, and YSM faculty cellist Paul Watkins.
He is the Artistic Director of Chamber Music Northwest and the Lake Champlain Chamber Music Festival, which he founded.
