Pentatone Records has announced the release of violinist Arabella Steinbacher's new album: 'Richard Strauss: Aber der Richtige ... Violin Concerto Miniatures'
Pentatone Records has this week announced the release of Germany violin virtuoso Arabella Steinbacher's new album: Richard Strauss: Aber der Richtige ... Violin Concerto Miniatures.
Recorded with conductor Lawrence Foster and the WDR Symphony Orchestra, the disc features Richard Strauss' Violin Concerto in D Minor - plus a number of new violin arrangements and transcription of Strauss' most lyrical operatic songs - including Aber der Richtige from Arabella.
"My inspiration for this disc were the songs from my early childhood ... especially the famous aria of 'Arabella' by Richard Strauss ..." Arabella has told The Violin Channel.
"I grew up in a house full of operatic music as my father worked for many years as a pianist at the Bavarian State Opera House and my mother studied as a singer ... it was actually the reason why they named me 'Arabella'," she has said.
"I hope that listeners can enjoy these beautiful Strauss songs ... there are so many wonderful memories in these pieces for me ... and whist of course the spoken text is missing, but i feel the violin is as close to the human voice as possible."
