Happy Birthday, VC Artist Bomsori Kim!
A graduate of The Juilliard School, Kim is a former major prize winner at the Hannover, Wieniawski, Tchaikovsky, Sendai, Montreal, Sibelius, Qingdao and ARD International Violin Competitions
In addition to the numerous competition prizes she has garnered, Bomsori Kim received the 2018 Young Artist Award from the Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the Korean Music Association’s 2019 Young Artist Award. In 2020, she was presented with the 4th G.rium Artists Award by the Foundation Academia Platonica.
As of February 2021, Bomsori signed an exclusive contract with the Deutsche Grammophon label in Berlin.
Born in South Korea, Bomsori received a Bachelor's degree at Seoul National University, and both her Master of Music Degree and Artist Diploma at The Juilliard School, where she studied with Sylvia Rosenberg and Ronald Copes.
With the generous support of the Kumho Asiana Cultural Foundation, Bomsori currently plays on a 1774 violin by Joannes Baptista Guadagnini.
In 2022, Bomsori will return on stage with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra, performing Bruch's Violin Concerto under the baton of Jaap van Zweden, and will be on tour with Orpheus Chamber Orchestra New York, performing Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto.
