Happy Birthday, Christian Tetzlaff!
A student of Uwe-Martin Haiberg and Walter Levin, he is widely respected as one of today's eminent concert soloists, touring and recording regularly with the world's major orchestras and conductors
Today is German violin virtuoso Christian Tetzlaff's 57th birthday!
Born in Hamburg, Tetzlaff's parents were amateur musicians. He began violin and piano studies at the age of 6, making his concert debut at 14 years old. He studied with Uwe-Martin Haiberg at the Musikhochschule Lübeck and later with Walter Levin at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.
His breakthrough as a soloist was in 1988 at 22 years of age, performing Schoenberg's Violin Concerto in critically acclaimed concerts with the Cleveland Orchestra and the Munich Philharmonic. The following year he made his solo recital debut in New York City.
He currently holds a teaching position on faculty at the Kronberg Academy, in Germany. His famed students including VC Artists Benjamin Beilman and William Hagen.
