British Violinist David Rimbault Awarded UK Orchestral Team Spirit Prize
Royal Liverpool Philharmonic violinist David Rimbault has been awarded the 2018 'Salomon' Prize - recognised as an unsung hero of UK orchestral life
The Royal Philharmonic Society, in collaboration with the Association of British Orchestras, has this week announced Royal Liverpool Philharmonic second violinist David Rimbault as the recipient of the 2018 'Salomon' Prize.
Established in 2011, the accolade celebrates ‘the unsung heroes’ of UK orchestral life – those seen as an inspiration to their fellow players for having displayed team spirit, commitment and dedication above and beyond the call of duty.
"David Rimbault is the embodiment of what the Salomon Prize is all about ... an adept and enthusiastic navigator of modern orchestral life, and a passionate advocate for the orchestra to be a fair, inclusive, progressive and enjoyable place to work ..." the selection committee has said.
"Behind the scenes, he works tirelessly and generously to promote positivity and cohesion ... and to forge links between the orchestra and management with audience members and donors," they have said.
The 37-year-old violinist has been a member of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic for six years – and serves as the orchestra's committee and union representative and is an active student/mentor volunteer as part of the ensemble's professional access scheme.
