20-year-old Armenian VC Young Artist Diana Adamyan has this week been awarded 1st prize at the 2020 Khachaturian International Violin Competition – in Yerevan, Armenia.

A student of Ana Chumachenco at the Munich University of Music, Diana was awarded 1st prize in the Senior Division of the 2018 Menuhin Competition, in Geneva.

She will receive $10,000 - and a recording contract with PARMA Recordings.

This year the competition was held entirely online, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with the 5 finalists performing from their homes – accompanied by recordings made by the Armenian State Symphony.

2nd prize was awarded to 18-year-old Michael Germer from Denmark.

Joint 3rd prize was awarded to 19-year-old Lorenz Karls from Sweden - and 20-year-old Belle Ting from Taiwan.

The 2020 jury comprised: Eduard Tadevosyan (Chair), Péter Csaba, Bob Lord, Gianluca Marcianò, Dora Schwarzberg, Zohrab Tadevosyan and Vera Tsu Weiling.

The jury this year agreed to volunteer their services - and no application fee was asked for from the candidates.
